Fire Conference Draws Crowd in Santo Domingo

Record crowds in Dominican RepublicAfter Benny Hinn’s historic January 2008 crusade held in Santo Domingo’s packed-to-overflowing Estadio Olimpico Juan Pablo Duarte, people from the Dominican Republic and surrounding region began clamoring for a follow-up Fire Conference.

On December 5–6, 2008, that Fire Conference took place, and the word-of-mouth enthusiasm from the earlier crusade was evident everywhere throughout Santo Domingo’s Palacios de los Deportes Virgilio Travieso Soto as anointed praise, worship, and teaching filled the venerable coliseum.

Prior to the first service, in fact, Pastor Benny Hinn met with pastors, government leaders, and business leaders. He challenged them with a dynamic message from God’s Word and prayed for the group.

Ye Shall Receive Power
“Without the anointing,” Pastor Benny taught during the first session of the Fire Conference, “we cannot live the Christian life victoriously. According to Acts 1:8 and Ecclesiastes 9:8, God commands us to be anointed. And God not only wants to anoint you, but He wants to saturate your life! He wants to send rivers of oil into your life, but you must understand something about the anointing.”

He quoted 1 John 2:27: “But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.”

“If you are a Christian,” Pastor Benny said, “you are anointed. The power of Jesus flows out of His presence. The presence of Jesus is the glory of God. The presence comes in at salvation and is present in fullness. His presence abides within you forever. The presence we know, the power we feel, and the presence becomes real in worship, in prayer, and when we read the Word. The presence does not increase or decrease; it is always at its fullness. But there must be surrender to the presence of God.”

God’s Call
Pastor Benny in Santo Domingo 2008During the second session of the conference, Pastor Benny moved into a teaching about the call of God.

“You cannot call yourself,” he declared. “Only God can call a person. When God calls someone, He anoints that person. If God calls you, He comes first.”

Who is God looking for?

“He is looking for men and women who will surrender all,” Pastor Benny taught. “There are some people so educated that God cannot use them. God cannot even get through to them because their education pushes God out. It’s not education we need—it’s revelation.

God isn’t looking for people who are educated. He is looking for those who are available.”

Pastor Benny then offered principles for understanding and responding to God’s calling:

  1. You must be called. When you are called, God will lead you into places in the Spirit. You cannot call yourself just because you think you have something to offer the kingdom of God. When you are called, you will know it.

  2. The second God calls you, you will be attacked. When God calls you, He expects you to be a mighty warrior. If you believe you are called, get ready to fight the fight of your life and win it!

  3. You must know how to pray. Elisha was plowing when he was called (1 Kings 19:19), and plowing is symbolic of prayer. Don’t depend on others to pray for you. Learn to pray.

  4. Before you can serve God, you have to prove yourself faithful to a man of God in service. Elijah cast his mantle on Elisha as he was plowing. Learn to serve another.

  5. When God calls you, there is no time to make up your mind—there must be no reluctance. There is a comparison to military service, meaning service first and family second.

  6. You cannot hang onto your yesterday if you what God to use you tomorrow. Elisha destroyed his farming instruments. He left his past behind. You must give yourself to the call and to the ministry.Miracles in Dominican Republic 2008

Fresh Anointing
During the third session on Saturday, a healing anointing descended throughout the Palacios de los Deportes, and Pastor Benny began to call out words of knowledge about miracles that were taking place. The crowd witnessed these powerful testimonies of healing:

  • A woman came in a wheelchair, previously diagnosed with heart problems. She suffered pain in her chest and was unable to walk. During the service she stood up and left her wheelchair behind as she walked victoriously to the front of the arena.

  • Numerous blind eyes were opened.

  • Many were healed of various forms of arthritis.

  • Deaf ears were opened!

  • Cancerous tumors vanished.

  • Asthma and breathing difficulties were gone.

  • A lady came to the platform with a pronounced bandage covering her nose. She had been unable to smell for years, but during the service she began to smell all the fragrances and various perfumes of those seated around her. As soon she left the platform, a woman who had received a similar miracle stepped onto the platform on the other side. She had lost her sense of smell for some time as well, and that night it returned!

So many miracles of healing occurred that only relatively few of those who came forward were able to go on the platform to testify. Before the final service concluded, Pastor Benny prayed for ministers and pastors, asking God for a fresh anointing.

Move of God Continues in Santo Domingo
Santo Domingo, capital of the Dominican Republic, is located on the Caribbean, between the Caribbean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean on the eastern two-thirds of La Isla Española (Haiti occupies the western one-third of the island). The Dominican Republic was explored and claimed by Christopher Columbus on his first voyage in 1492. In fact, when the adventurer sighted its coral-edged Caribbean coastline on his first voyage to the New World, he reportedly pronounced: “There is no more beautiful island in the world.”

Crowd in Dominican Republic 08Millions since then have agreed enthusiastically, and from that point the island of Hispaniola has been a springboard for discovery throughout the Caribbean and the American mainland as well as a spectacular destination for sugar-white beaches and rich natural beauty.

Today over 9 million people live in the Dominican Republic, and there is an increasing openness to the preaching of the Word throughout this region of the world. Never before have so many opportunities existed for the Gospel throughout the Caribbean islands.

Throughout the islands, multitudes are clearly hungry for the life-saving and miracle-working message of Jesus Christ. That was never more evident than the beginning of the first Fire Conference session.

“It was wonderful to be here once again with the people of the Dominican Republic,” Pastor Benny Hinn reported afterward. “What a blessed Fire Conference. The people here witnessed God’s power as never before. This is a crucial hour for getting out the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and I am praying that this move of God in Santo Domingo will continue to spread throughout the island and the entire region as God calls and anoints a mighty army of believers for His service during the coming days.”
