New Year’s Eve Long Beach Service Points to Prophetic Events

The New Year’s Eve candlelight service is a special tradition for Benny Hinn Ministries, yet the 2008 event took a very different direction, one that focused on the unfolding strife in the Middle East and what those events mean for believers around the world.

The lighted candles formed a glorious backdrop for the service, and the expectant crowd joined the select choir and orchestra with inspirational music. TBN founders Paul and Jan Crouch expressed their love for Pastor Benny and all those in attendance.

Israel Events and Prophecy

Then Pastor Benny began speaking about all that was transpiring in Israel, broadly outlining the history and 1948 rebirth of the nation, showing that in its relatively short existence, Israel has fought back invaders in five major wars aimed at its annihilation, always against impossible odds, and that today, with her precarious geography, with enemies on three sides and her back to the sea, the nation is again faced with a monumental challenge with the crisis in Gaza.

After explaining more about the prophetic importance of Middle Eastern events, he said, “We are living in dangerous days, not only because of the Middle East, but the entire world; however, these are also glorious days of opportunity for those of us who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and are proclaiming His name throughout the earth.”

Citing Psalm 122:6 and the command to “pray for the peace of Jerusalem,” Pastor Benny led the Long Beach audience in powerful intercession for that violence-stricken region.

Speaking Out About Gaza

During the service, Pastor Benny spoke boldly about the need for believers to share what is actually going on throughout that region, especially in light of biblical prophecy.

“I have been speaking to people in the Israeli government,” he reported, “and I have been asked to fly to Israel very soon. It is time for someone like me to go there to interview some of the top people in the government, including military leaders, and have them explain what is really happening. Israel continues to be attacked, again and again, not just with missiles, but also in the media. The world must know what is happening and why Israel must defend its citizens. God is directing me to go to Israel to collect footage, conduct interviews, and quickly share firsthand with our partners what God is doing in the Middle East, specifically with the Gaza warfare.”

TBN’s Paul Crouch quickly pledged a large gift to help fund the newsgathering trip, and prayers were offered on behalf of the people caught up in this crisis.

Candlelight Communion and a Challenge

At midnight on New Year’s Eve, the powerful service continued with a candlelight communion. The shared moments took on special meaning in light of what Pastor Benny had spoken from his heart about the developments in Israel that are signaling an accelerated and unprecedented prophetic season that could quickly change the course of history.

“It was very different from every other New Year’s Eve service I’ve ever attended,” said a member of the audience afterward, “but it was a historic time together that I’ll never forget.”

“It really struck home when Pastor Benny spoke about his deep love for the people of Israel,” another person reported. “And then when he expressed his desire to go there to meet with the government people to show what is really happening, that really touched me. It was a very unusual service, but it sure helped me see and understand the prophetic significance of what is happening in Gaza. It’s evident that Pastor Benny is from Israel and has always had a love for that nation, but it is also evident that he is looking at it now from a prophetic perspective. I know I will never be the same as a result of the service.”
