The Alamo City Hosts Training for Ministry Conference

On April 27–28, 2007, San Antonio became the latest site for the much-anticipated Benny Hinn Ministries Training for Ministry Conference. It was a power-packed time as over 2,600 people from all over the Southwest came to the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, hungry to receive preparation for last-days ministry!

Friday Evening
In the first session Pastor Benny taught how to minister healing to the sick. He shared a vast number of scriptures on the topic and explained how forgiveness and healing were ministered by Jesus Christ.

He quoted from Matthew 11:3-5, which speaks of the way Jesus forgave sin and healed the sick, confirming from Scripture that He is the Son of God.

“Jesus Christ,” Pastor Benny pointed out, “is the will of God in action!”

Pastor Benny shared personal examples in his life that have strengthened his faith in the miraculous and underscored the fact that it is God’s will to heal all.

“The name of Jesus brings healing,” he said, “yet God only gives in proportion to our faith.”

As his teaching came to a close, miracles of healing began to take place in the auditorium. Many individuals were healed of various kinds of diseases and infirmities.

Saturday Morning
Excitement continued to build during the conference as Pastor Benny taught on demonology and deliverance. He carefully laid a scriptural foundation and continued by contrasting the five levels of the underworld and the five divisions of angels.

He also outlined the steps a person follows into demon possession:

  • Regression — returns to old behaviors
  • Repression — ungrateful to the Lord for anything
  • Suppression —conceals what God has done in your life
  • Depression —controlled by hopelessness
  • Oppression — becomes overpowered by demons
  • Obsession — besieged by the devils of hell
  • Possession — totally controlled

Pastor Benny also cautioned those in attendance about how certain objects, sounds, and smells can attract demons and will welcome demonic activity into a life.

Saturday Evening
Pastor Benny concluded the Training for Ministry Conference in San Antonio by teaching about the laying on of hands.

“The laying on of hands will impart the gift of God,” he proclaimed to a rapt audience. “The laying on of hands is one of the foundational doctrines of Christianity.”

He explained that an impartation takes place when an individual lays hands on someone. An impartation involves giving and receiving. “The laying on of hands is a serious matter in the sight of God!”

“Three things,” he continued, “are given by God with the laying on of hands: honor, wisdom, and authority.”

Pastor Benny quoted Reinhardt Bonnke when he said: “If the preaching of the Gospel lacks signs and wonders, it is an empty shell!”

Pastor Benny cited the example found in James 5:14, which asks, “Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.” He explained, “The anointing of oil is seen only in connection with believers.”

Pastor Benny shared several scriptures that referenced the baptism of the Holy Spirit in connection with the laying on of hands.

He also took time to share the warnings and dangers connected with laying on hands suddenly. He explained 1 Timothy 5:22 which cautions, “Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men’s sins: keep thyself pure.”

Then he offered safeguards to protect your life in connection with the laying on of hands:

  • The ministry of laying on hands should be exercised carefully.
  • Claim the continual protection and purifying power of the blood of Christ.
  • Guidance of the Holy Spirit must be sought at every stage: knowing whom to pray for, how and what to pray, and when to pray.

“The greater the power,” he admonished, “the greater the danger!”

The conference ended powerfully, and Pastor Benny reported, “Because of what is taking place on earth today, with dangers rising on every side, and because our time on earth is so short, the Lord has put it very strongly on my heart to hold Training for Ministry Conferences such as this one in San Antonio to equip believers as saints of God and to train each person through God’s Word to win the lost and minister under the anointing of the Holy Spirit. This time was very special, for I believe that this is our moment to win multitudes to our wonderful Lord Jesus. This is our moment to declare His power and glory to loved ones, neighbors, and the nations of the world.”

San Antonio is an amazing blend of history, tradition, culture, and vision. The city has been an important crossroads. Famous around the world for the historic Alamo, vital military bases, scenic Riverwalk, popular theme parks, and world-champion athletes, the city of San Antonio is gracious host to over 20 million visitors a year.

Along the Alamo City’s world-famous Riverwalk and nestled in the heart of historic downtown thrives the nucleus of San Antonio's convention industry. The Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center plays host to more than 300 events each year with over 750,000 convention delegates from around the world.

Pastor Benny says, “I pray that the impact from our time here in San Antonio will spread around the globe as more and more people begin to walk in the authority that God desires to give each believer!”
