Over 20,000 people came from throughout Africa to the Miracle Centre Cathedral in Kampala, the largest city and capital of Uganda.

Located in the geographical heartland of the continent of Africa, Uganda is bordered by Kenya, Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, and Tanzania. A substantial portion of Lake Victoria is located in southern Uganda.

Each of the June 5–6 Fire Conference sessions, hosted by Senior Pastor Robert Kayanja, featured dynamic praise and worship by the church’s talented choir and praise team.

From the first session, God’s life-changing and miracle-working power touched the hearts of people throughout the massive auditorium.

Three Experiences to Receive Power

“Many people believe that the power of God only belongs to preachers or mighty people,” Pastor Benny Hinn began, citing Acts 1:8. “Jesus never said it was only for a few. He said, ‘Ye shall receive power.’ There is no if in those words. There were no conditions. It is a promise—`Ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you!’”

He went through the three experiences we have in the Spirit:

The Holy Spirit with us—“The Holy Spirit came to be with you even before your salvation,” Pastor Benny said. “You cannot be a Christian, for there would be no way for you to know Jesus, unless the Holy Spirit first came to be with you. He came to be with you first to bring you to Jesus, to reveal Jesus to your heart. He reveals sin. He reveals that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. Even before salvation the Holy Spirit came to convict you of your sin. He wasn’t in you yet. You were not saved yet. You were simply convicted.”

With you and in you at salvation—“Every Christian has experienced the Holy Spirit with and in if that person has accepted Jesus as Savior,” Pastor Benny taught, “even the believer who doesn’t believe in the power of the Holy Spirit. When Jesus said the Holy Spirit would be with you and in you, He was not talking about the power of God. He was talking about the presence of God.”

Receiving power according to Acts 1:8—“This experience is not about salvation,” shared Pastor Benny. “It is about service. It has to do with the presence and power of God. The presence is invisible; the power of God is visible. The power of God is real but it is totally separate from the presence. The presence of God doesn’t leave you, but the power of God comes and goes. His presence abides, enabling me to pray and to understand the Bible, and His presence never increases or decreases. His power, on the other hand, comes and goes, as needed.”

The Holy Spirit’s Anointing

During the final session of the Kampala Fire Conference, Pastor Benny built on the foundation he had taught earlier.

“The Holy Spirit is the power of the Godhead,” he shared with the massive audience. “He is the power of the Trinity. Let me tell you how powerful He is. Before God created heaven, the universe, the earth, the angels, He was Jehovah God, God the Word, and God the Holy Spirit. There was no such thing as God the Son until He became flesh, but the Holy Spirit was always the power of the Godhead.”

He shared the seven covenants made between the Godhead and man:

1.       Adamic

2.       Noahic

3.       Abrahamic

4.       Mosaic

5.       Davidic

6.       New Covenant between Jesus and the church, and sealed with the Holy Spirit Himself

7.       Everlasting Covenant

Then he moved into a powerful teaching on the anointing of the Holy Spirit.

“When you see the Holy Spirit as an influence,” Pastor Benny pointed out, “you will get into fanaticism, but when you see Him as a person, you will be transformed through your intellect, will, and emotions. The Holy Spirit looks into the deep things of God. The Holy Ghost revealed God to you, and the deep things of God are revealed to the church by the Holy Ghost. And the anointing is promised to you when the Holy Ghost is upon you.”

He taught the three dimensions of the Holy Spirit’s power:

1.       For salvation

2.       For ministry

3.       For signs and wonders and dominion

“The presence is for fellowship, but the anointing is for war,” Pastor Benny said. “The presence of God and the power of God are totally different. We as Christians need to experience both. The presence of God comes at salvation. The power comes so we can serve the Lord here on earth. When we talk about the presence of God we are talking about God’s glory and His ways. His presence will stay with you forever, and He will never leave you. While His presence brings gentleness, His power brings boldness. It makes you shout! The presence stills you, but the power stirs you. The presence of God is always in you in fullness, but the power is not eternal. Power is for war. It comes on you for a reason and a season.”

At the end of the final conference session, Pastor Benny prayed over all who attended, asking for a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit’s presence and anointing upon those throughout the huge church auditorium.

A Challenge for the Future

“God did something very special in Uganda through the Fire Conference,” Pastor Benny reports. “What a precious time at the Miracle Centre Cathedral in Kampala with Pastor Robert Kayanja, his family, and his church. They were such wonderful hosts for all the people who traveled from around the region to be part of this conference. I see such great days ahead for the body of Christ throughout Uganda and Africa, and I am asking my partners around the globe to pray that God will continue to touch an entire generation here. This has been a historic time. I see a new wave of outpouring coming!”
