Pastor Benny Hinn joins believers worldwide in giving tribute to the pioneering Denver pastor and evangelist.

Psalm 116:9 declares, “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.” Certainly this is true for Dr. Charles Blair, a giant of the faith, who blazed trails as beloved pastor, author, church builder, missions leader, and minister of the Gospel.

Pastor Benny Hinn, just finishing a series of national interviews on the East Coast in connection with his newest book, Blood in the Sand, has joined with other international leaders in honoring his long-time friend’s home-going:

Even as we grieve Dr. Blair’s passing from this earth, we rejoice at his home-going, along with his precious wife Betty, his dear family members, those who were part of the Calvary Temple in Denver, and those who were touched by his missionary heart all around the world. I am amazed at how mightily he was used by God from that fateful time back in 1947 when the 26-year-old traveling evangelist from Oklahoma was called to pastor what was then the Central Assembly Church of Denver, which became one of the fastest growing churches in the nation. I was privileged to stand in his heritage-filled pulpit and able to witness firsthand his unmistakable passion for lost souls. Those who knew him understood that he was willing to do whatever was needed to reach out to others with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, including leading the way to build over 1,000 churches in Ethiopia alone! Now I ask all my partners to be in prayer for Betty and his family during these days of bereavement. And while we join Dr. Blair’s loved ones in mourning this great loss, we also celebrate our dear brother’s reunion in heaven with the Lord Jesus whom he served so faithfully during his memorable lifetime. I can only imagine the glory he is experiencing today in heaven with the Savior whom he loved and served throughout his life!

Pastor Charles Blair went on to be with the Lord on August 20, 2009, at 7:20 p.m.  He was at home with his loved ones around him. There will be a great home-going celebration service at Calvary Temple, 200 S University Blvd., Denver, CO 80209, on Saturday, August 29, at 10:30 a.m. This will provide time for people around the world to arrange travel to this great service to honor the pioneering life of a man who touched the world with Christ’s love!
