Healing and Faith

Recovery Is Near

Even when we do act on our faith, symptoms do not always disappear instantly.

After Hezekiah was healed, it was three days before he was strong enough to go up to the house of the Lord. (See 2 Kings 20:1-5).

In John 4, the nobleman "believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him" (v. 50), and when he met his servants, he inquired of them the hour when his dying son "began to amend" (v.52).

The Bible differentiates between the "gifts of healing" and the gift of "the working of miracles" (1 Cor. 12:9).

The Spotless Lamb

God instructed the children of Israel concerning the purity of the lamb which would be sacrificed at Passover: “Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year; ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats” (Exodus 12:5).

There could be no spot or blemish. Nothing!

The inspection process, from the very first Passover, was extremely thorough to guarantee a lamb that met the strictest of standards set by God.

The Lamb of God, without question, fulfilled every criteria. The Lamb of God is perfect. He is without blemish. He is holy, righteous, and just: “For as much as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” (1 Peter 1:18-19).

The Mighty Promise of Healing

If healing was extended to one person, as it was in so many instances throughout the Bible, then it is available to all.

Miracles are not selectively bestowed upon those deemed worthy but are available to every man, woman, boy, and girl.

That includes YOU!

God’s healing power is not limited to a time frame in history or to certain individuals.

He is the “God of miracles,” a gracious, loving, unchanging Father who has and always will work the impossible in the lives of mortal men when we reach out to Him and ask in faith, expecting to receive.
