Today’s Key Scripture

“A time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

— John 4:23-24, NIV

If you were to ask me, “Benny, what do you value most as a Christian?” without hesitation I would tell you that, except for salvation itself, I cherish God’s presence and the anointing of the Holy Spirit in my life. In fact, I would rather die than lose it. And what the Spirit has revealed to me concerning God’s special touch on my life has caused me to treasure Him even more.

God longs for you to know His power and His presence. His Word describes it in glorious detail. In fact, the psalmist wrote, “The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God” (Psalm 92:12-13, NIV).

The secret to the Holy Spirit’s anointing is found in surrender, which is only possible through prayer and brokenness before the Lord Jesus. It is not a one-time event; it is a continual revelation and an on-going work.

That should be our lifelong pursuit—to know Him more intimately every day—to adore Him in Spirit and truth!

A Prayer for Today

Lord, I ask You today for more of You and less of myself in my life. I seek Your power and anointing, but most of all I thirst for You. Teach me today to become more reliant on You. Bring me into a greater understanding of You. Give me spiritual eyes that see beyond the natural realm. Help me to see Your hand at work in my life. More than ever before, my heart is open to You today. I seek to serve You and You alone. In Jesus’ precious name I pray, amen.
